About Kerr Scott Lake

Originally constructed in the 1950's as a flood control project, this 1,475 acre reservoir now offers excellent boating, canoeing, kayaking and swimming opportunities.   Enjoy fishing?  The lake has a healthy population of large and smallmouth bass, bluegill. thread fine shad, spotted bass, hybrid striped bass, and tiger muskellunge.

Wildlife in the area around the lake includes white-tailed deer, black bear, eastern cottontails, and more.  Birds in the area include wild turkey, grey heron, mallards and wood ducks.  So much to see for the nature lover/photographer.

So . . . what is the "1080 line"?  The "full pond" level for the lake is 1,080' above sea level.  Day to day levels are closer to 1,030'.  The lake is managed by the Corps of Engineers, and the removal of plants and trees between 1,030' and 1,080' requires Corps permission.  Boat docks are allowed by permitting from the Corps of Engineers.
